Students can get discounted Nexus 7 plus free Chromecast at Best Buy

One of the best Android tablets can be had for a $30 discount in addition to a free Chromecast ($35 value) for a limited time at Best Buy.

This discount applies only to the base 16GB model, which should be perfectly fine for most users. This is the 2013 (and therefore newest) Nexus 7, for those that were wondering about a “catch.” You won’t find one! The Nexus 7 is already the best deal in the tablet universe; it seems that Google sells them at cost as a way to get you into their ecosystem.

You’ll need a .edu email address to get this deal!

If you really want a different model, whether it is a LTE-enabled version or the 32GB, you can still get the free Chromecast through Best Buy.

The Chromecast remains one of the best deals for those that want to make their TV a little bit smarter. While it launched with support for only Netflix and YouTube, it has since added Hulu Plus, HBO Go, Pandora, Crackle, Google Play, and soon, its Chrome tab mirroring functionality. It isn’t as fully-functional as some other devices, but it is quite cheap and will be everything that a lot of people need. For free, why not?

If you want only the Chromecast/aren’t a student, you can get it for a slight discount at Amazon today: $30 instead of $35. Regardless of where you buy it, the Chromecast does come with an HDMI extender, power cable, and power cord.

Remember, you’ll need to have a .edu email address to collect the offer. You may be able to work out a deal with a friend if you don’t have one yourself.
